Our RoSPA Level 3 Award in Chauffeur Skills & Protective Driving

provides comprehensive instruction and guidance in all aspects of chauffeuring and protective driving, from the all-important ‘soft skills’ through to advanced and tactical driving tuition. The course was developed by ADS Training & Consultancy Ltd in association with RoSPA, the world-renowned advanced driver and vocational training organisation, and we are both delighted and privileged that the course has earned a rare and coveted RoSPA fully accredited level 3 award. This makes us currently the only training provider in the UK able to offer such a fully accredited course leading to a genuine RoSPA award.

Course Overview:

The RoSPA Level 3 Award in Chauffeur Skills & Protective Driving is an intensive course run over 7-days and made up of 5 main elements;

Soft skills - hugely important personal skills that form the basis of any chauffeur-passenger professional relationship. Having a real understanding of the so-called ‘soft skills’ is absolutely necessary and these may differ dependent on who your principal is and what their expectations are. This subject should go way beyond opening doors and we ensure everything that comes under the umbrella of ‘soft skills’ such as etiquette, dress and deportment, attitude and formality is covered as it should be.

Advanced driving - as you would expect from a course that carries a RoSPA level 3 award, advanced driving forms the core of our instruction and underpins the protective driving phase. We provide tuition in the full RoSPA system of car control in a realistic enough timeframe to prepare delegates for the challenging advanced driving test.

Tactical and protective driving - As chauffeurs we have a duty of care to our clients and every passenger needs and indeed deserves to feel as safe and secure as they possibly can be. Our profession dictates that most of us regularly find ourselves driving senior executives, celebrities and high net worth individuals who might well unwittingly attract interest from an undesirable element. Common criminality or terrorism, opportunist or well planned, any client could become a target and by being security aware and proactive, chauffeurs have a significant role to play in lowering the odds of their passengers or themselves falling victim. This phase covers realistic driving techniques, surveillance, working with protection professionals, client profiling and threat assessment and other necessary aspects.

RoSPA advanced driving test - this is the culmination for all the practical driving tuition and study. We use external RoSPA-appointed test examiners, otherwise unconnected with our training, to ensure test conditions are impartial, fair and conducted to a necessarily high standards as per RoSPA best practice. Delegates need to achieve a silver or gold pass to gain overall success on the course.

Ongoing assessment and final exercise - ours is a fully accredited course which means we must ensure that delegates meet a series of necessary learning outcomes in order to successfully pass the course. This makes it necessary for us to constantly assess each learner to ensure they maintain the standard required to gain the RoSPA level 3 award. Please not that this is NOT an automatic pass course as a number of learning objectives need to be reached for a a successful conclusion to the course.

Every detail of our course content has been technically checked to ensure it meets the rigid and strict criteria required to hold this extremely sought-after accreditation. We feel that this RoSPA award, together with the long-held, genuine and credible experience of the training staff, will provide attendees with the confidence that ADS are the right training provider to equip them with the skills required for a career as a professional chauffeur

Who is the aimed at?

We’ve designed and developed the course with three main groups of people in mind;

firstly, those individuals who are looking to join the chauffeuring industry and want comprehensive training in all aspects of the profession, culminating in a much respected RoSPA level 3 award as evidence of learning. Our course will undoubtedly provide both the practical skills and insight required to confidently stand out and be an asset to potential employers and clients alike.

Secondly, working chauffeurs who feel their existing experience would be greatly enhanced with formal training and a highly regarded RoSPA level 3 award. More and more, even experienced chauffeurs are seeing the merits of undertaking formal training in the all-important soft skills advanced and protective driving that enables them to provide an outstanding level of service, safety and security to their passengers.

The third group of individuals our RoSPA level 3 award is aimed at are those protection professionals who want to build on their CP training and experience by being able to confidently undertake driving duties alongside security. Having a formal RoSPA qualification is undoubtedly very attractive to potential employers in a competitive market and will greatly enhance any CV.

Course duration:

As you would expect from a course fully accredited as a level 3 award by RoSPA, great emphasis is placed upon the advanced driving element because it is this that forms the basis of protective and tactical skills at the wheel.

We follow RoSPA’s well-proven and iconic ‘System of Car Control’ to ensure delegates receive structured tuition in a realistic timeframe to fully prepare for the challenging RoSPA advanced driving test, an essential element of the course.

The course is aimed at providing attendees with ‘real world’ training to fully prepare them to work competently at a high level so they need to be ready to absorb a great deal of content in order to learn, and hone the required skills.

Best practice:

Being an approved RoSPA awarding centre means we are governed by a strict code relating to best practice, quality of course content, materials and standard of instruction, compliance, conduct and meeting the expectations of attendees

This means students can be confident they are receiving high quality training that will set them apart. It is important that we emphasise the fact that we are committed to following RoSPA’s own best practices by engaging the services of independent adanced driving test examiners, booked through and appointed by RoSPA centrally, who are otherwise unconnected with our training courses.

This ensures advanced driving test conditions that are impartial, fair and necessarily challenging to meet the high standards set out by RoSPA as an awarding organisation.
